For many years, we operated ultra-affordable VPS servers at 25 CZK on OpenVZ virtualization for students. It was our pure project to engage more people in the wonderful Linux community. We offered VPS servers at a price lower than the cost of an IP address, subsidizing the study. Unfortunately, the development of the open-source control panel was discontinued by the developers, leaving only one commercial provider of control panels. A commercial control panel or the creation of our own would be very costly, so we decided to cease the sale of ultra-affordable OpenVZ VPS servers at the end of October and give current OpenVZ clients a year to gradually migrate to newer solutions.
As a replacement for OpenVZ VPS servers, we have created a new offer for student KVM virtual servers. New operating systems, such as CentOS 8, Ubuntu 18.04, or Debian 10, can no longer run on a 5GB disk, 128 MB RAM, and 100 MHz CPU as was the case with OpenVZ servers. The lowest configuration for the new servers has been set to meet the minimum requirements of individual distributions. Unfortunately, the increased hardware demands have also reflected in the price.
Advantages:
- Higher performance
- Better resource management
- KVM virtualization
- Dedicated cluster resources
Disadvantages:
- Currently only 4 Linux distributions
- Reinstallation upon request. Automatic reinstallation in preparation
- Optimized performance
