Google is taking things very seriously starting from May 11. From today, all embedded maps on websites without an API key are either restricted or turned off by Google. Google mentions that this affects 70% of all maps on the internet. Those who have an API key for their maps are not entirely safe either. Google has set limits on how long maps will remain free and when they will start incurring charges. You can obtain your Google API at https://console.cloud.google.com/ and you may also need to add a credit card in case you exceed your quota.
