Clients often ask us what guaranteed parameters mean for VPS servers, especially when it comes to guaranteed CPU for VPS servers. I'll try to explain the concept of guarantee and aggregation as simply as possible.
Every physical server contains one or more processors. Each processor consists of cores. Our physical servers usually contain two processors with a total of 32 cores.
For example, a Full VPS server from our offering includes:
- Guaranteed CPU 2.6 GHz
This means that the VPS server is allocated exactly one core from the processor, which is not shared with anyone else, allowing us to guarantee the client a performance of 2.6 GHz. Up to 28 Full VPS servers can be created on one physical server. The remaining CPU performance is reserved for upgrading VPS server configurations.
Web hosts that do not guarantee CPU for VPS servers allocate one CPU core to multiple VPS servers. For instance, four VPS servers share one CPU, which is called aggregation. In practice, even higher levels of aggregation can be found. This allows the web host to place more VPS servers on one physical server, increasing profit, assuming some customers remain unsatisfied. A VPS server with aggregation can be unstable, and its performance may decrease depending on how other VPS servers utilize the shared core.
MyDreams Hosting offers guaranteed parameters for CPU, RAM, and disk access.
